Anthony R. Selvey – Taylor & Francis Group Plc (tfg.l)

ANTHONY R. SELVEY is the Chief Executive of Taylor & Francis Group plc. He qualified as an accountant in 1971 having studied at the City of London College. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Accountants, the Companion of the Institute of Management and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors. His career developed within Taylor & Francis working through different departments and finally establishing his position in finance as the Group Accountant having joined Taylor & Francis in 1963, after returning from Australia where he had worked in a printing business in Melbourne. He was appointed to the Board of Taylor & Francis in 1976 as the Finance Director and in 1983 was appointed Managing Director. Since 1983, the company has successfully acquired thirteen companies both in the UK and the USA, and now publishing over 460 journals and 1, 600 new books per annum. The Group's flotation in May 1998, on the London Stock Exchange, valued the Group at GBP 130 million and within fifteen months has risen to GBP 330 million. Tony Selvey is married with two children.
