ANDREAS TREICHL is Chairman and Chief Executive of Erste Bank der
oesterreichischen Sparkassen AG. He graduated with a degree in
Macroeconomics from the University of Vienna and started his
professional career in 1977, working in Credit Analysis at Chase
Manhattan Bank in New York. In 1979, still with Chase Manhattan, he
moved to Brussels, working in asset management for multinationals. In
1981, he spent two years as Head of corporate banking at the Athens
branch. Following his position as co-head of department of "Wholesale
Clients" at DIE ERSTE osterreichische Spar-Casse Bank Ag, he went back
to Chase Manhattan Bank this time in Austria, as Chief Executive
Officer. He spent a year as Chief Executive Officer of Credit Lyonnais
Bank AG, and moved to DIE ERSTE osterreichische Spar-Casse Bank Ag where
he joined the Managing Board. Mr Treichl in 1997 joined Erste Bank as
Chairman of the Managing Board and Chief Executive Officer. Profile
