ALLEN CHAO, Ph.D., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Watson
Pharmaceuticals, Inc., founded the Company in 1984. Prior to this, he
served as Director of Pharmaceutical Technology and Packaging
Development at Searle Laboratories, Inc. where he had overall
responsibility for new product implementation and new pharmaceutical
technology development. He received a Ph.D. in industrial and physical
pharmacy from Purdue University in 1973. He received an M.S. in
Pharmaceutics from West Virginia University in 1970 and a B.S. in
Pharmacy from Taipei Medical College in 1967. He was responsible for
taking Watson Pharmaceuticals, Inc. public (IPO) in 1993. In 1994, he
received the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year Award representing the
Inland Empire, California and was runner-up at the national conference
of the Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, 1994. Profile
