WILLIS T. KING, JR. is Chairman and CEO of Highlands Insurance Group,
Inc. since June 1999. Immediately prior to joining Highlands, he was
Vice Chairman of Guy Carpenter & Co., Inc. in New York, where he had
been employed since March 1997. Before that, Mr. King was Chairman & CEO
of Willcox, Inc. Reinsurance Intermediaries in New York, where he had
been employed from 1984 to 1997. He was also a Director of Johnson &
Higgins from 1987 to 1997 when it merged with Marsh & McLennan. From
1975 to 1984, he was employed at Johnson & Higgins in California, where
he was an officer of the company. Mr. King serves as Chairman of
Homeowners' Holdings, Inc.; Director of Max Re Capital Ltd. (Bermuda);
Director of SCPIE Holdings, Inc.; and Director of BCSI Holdings, Inc.
Mr. King attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, earning a BS
degree in 1966 and a Master's degree in 1967 in Chemical Engineering.
From 1979 to 1980, he attended the Executive Program at the University
of California, Graduate School of Management, in Los Angeles,
California. Mr. King served as an officer in the US Navy Submarine
