William Rankin – Uqm Technologies Inc (uqm)

WILLIAM G. RANKIN is President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of UQM Technologies, Inc. UQM, a public company that develops and manufactures high efficiency permanent magnet electric motors, generators and power electronic assemblies. Organized in 1967, the company is headquartered in Frederick, Colorado. Since 1990, UQM's focus has been to apply its products to electric, hybrid electric, and fuel cell electric vehicle propulsion systems, vehicle auxiliaries and environmentally friendly distributed power systems. As a result, UQM has come to be regarded as a global leader in its field. Mr. Rankin joined UQM in February 1992 as Executive Vice President and was promoted to President in 1996 and CEO in 1999. He is responsible for overall company operations, including its wholly owned subsidiaries: UQM Power Products (motors) located in Frederick, Colorado, and UQM Electronics (electronic assemblies) located in St. Charles, Missouri. His primary focus is on transitioning UQM from research, development and prototype build to high volume production in support of the emerging clean vehicle and distributed power markets. Mr. Rankin was previously employed by Deere & Company (16 years) and was responsible for Computer Integrated Manufacturing worldwide for Deere's complete line of equipment and vehicle products. He established and was General Manager of a new business venture ' Deere Tech Services. Clients included Jaguar Motor Company, GM Buick, Oldsmobile, Cadillac Division and Motor Coach Industries. Mr. Rankin earned his Engineering degree from the Colorado School of Mines in 1965, majoring in Engineering Mathematics. He later received an MS in Systems Management from the Florida Institute of Technology.
