William M. Mccarten – Host Marriott Services Corporation (hms)

WILLIAM W. MCCARTEN is President and CEO of Host Marriott Services Corporation, the leading provider of food, beverage, and retail concessions in over 200 travel and entertainment venues in five countries spanning the globe. The company's 1996 sales were $1.3 billion, and has over 23,000 employees worldwide. The company is best known for its innovative concession planning that couples international brands with regional favorites in unique settings. The company is traded on the NYSE under the symbol HMS. Mr. McCarten joined Marriott Corporation in 1979 and has served in a variety of executive positions within the company. He has been Vice President of Finance, Roy Rogers Restaurants and Senior Vice President, Finance and Corporate Controller, Marriott Corporation. He was named President of Host International in 1992, Executive Vice President of Host Marriott Operating Group in 1993 and President and CEO of Host Marriott Services Corporation in 1995. Before joining Marriott, he was with Arthur Andersen and Company for eight years. Mr. McCarten holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Virginia. Mr. McCarten is a member and past chairman of the Advisory Board for the McIntire School of Commerce. He is a certified public accountant and is a member of AICPA.
