William M. Carpenter – Bausch & Lomb Inc (bol)

WILLIAM M. CARPENTER is Chairman and CEO and a Director of Bausch & Lomb. Mr. Carpenter joined Bausch & Lomb in March 1995 as Executive Vice President and global business manager-Eyewear. He was named President and COO in December 1995, and was elected a director in January 1997. He assumed his current position in January 1999. Prior to joining Bausch & Lomb, Mr. Carpenter had been president and CEO of Reckitt & Colman, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Reckitt & Colman, plc, since 1994; president and COO from 1992; and president of the Household Products Division from 1991. Before joining Reckitt & Colman, he held a variety of sales, marketing and operating positions with Johnson & Johnson's health care and consumer products businesses between 1977 and 1991. Mr. Carpenter received a B.A. degree in History from Dartmouth College and a Masters of Management, Marketing and Finance from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in 1977. Mr. Carpenter is a member of the boards of the United Way of Greater Rochester and the University of Rochester.
