DR. WILLIAM BESCHORNER is the Founder of Ximerex, Inc., and
serves as President and Chief Scientific Officer. He received his
medical degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago,
Illinois, in 1976. After an internship and residency in Pathology
at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, he joined the
faculty of the Department of Pathology, specializing in the
pathology and immunology of organ and bone marrow
transplantation. He focused on the problems of immune deficiency,
graft-vs.-host disease and graft rejection, and studied their
interrelationships. He has been awarded 16 competitive grants,
has more than 120 publications in peer-reviewed journals and four
patents. Dr. Beschorner is the inventor of thymic reeducation,
surrogate tolerogenesis and pretransplant accommodation. He began
doing research in xenotransplantation in 1992. He is an Adjunct
Professor of Surgery at the University Nebraska Medical Center. Profile
