WALTER H. WEINER is Chairman and CEO of Republic New York Corporation
and its principal subsidiary, Republic National Bank of New York. Mr.
Weiner joined Republic New York Corporation and Republic National Bank
of New York on January 1, 1980, as Chairman of the Executive Committee
and CEO of each. Elected President of Republic New York Corporation and
Republic National Bank of New York in 1981, he has served as Chairman of
the Board of the Corporation since 1983, and as Chairman of the Board of
the Bank since 1986. Mr. Weiner is a director of Safra Republic Holdings
S.A., a Luxembourg based holding company. Prior to joining Republic, Mr.
Weiner was a senior partner in the New York law firm of Kronish Lieb
Weiner & Hellman for fifteen years. From 1961 to 1965, he was a partner
in the New York law firm of Stein, Kripke & Rosen, and from 1953 to
1961, he was an associate of Cravath, Swaine & Moore. Born in Brooklyn,
New York, Mr. Weiner received a B.A. degree in 1952, and a J.D. degree
in 1953 from the University of Michigan Law School. He serves on the
Board of Visitors of the Law School. Mr. Weiner has been widely
recognized from his humanitarian, civic, and philanthropic activities.
He was awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters, Honoris Causa, from Yeshiva
University on December 8, 1996. On April 9, 1997, he was honored by the
American Diabetes Association. In 1996, he was awarded the Catholic
Medical Center Faithful Steward Award. On June 26, 1995, he received
Cancer Care's Human Services Award. On December 8, 1994, he and his
wife, received the Jewish Theological Seminary's Louis Marshall Award
and on May 24, 1994, Mr. Weiner received the 'Good Scout Award' at the
Greater New York Councils/Boy Scouts of America 1994 Banking Industry
Luncheon. He was honored by the Banking and Finance Division, UJA-
Federation in 1991. In the same year, he was named Man of the Year by
the Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce. Previously, he received the
1988 Human Relations Award from the American Jewish Committee's
'Accountants, Bankers, Factors and Finance' Division. He was also named
1988 Man of the Year by the Brooklyn School of Special Children, and
received the 1987 Humanitarian Award of the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People. Long active in community and professional
affairs, he is a member of the New York Clearing House Association,
Bankers Roundtable, Bryant Park Restoration Corporation, Madison Council
of the Library of Congress. President of Management Executive Society,
and Treasurer and Secretary of Bryant Park Management Corporation.
He is a Trustee of International Sephardic Education Foundation, the New
York Community Trust, and the Museum of Jewish Heritage-A Living
Memorial to the Holocaust, and formerly of Guild Hall (East Hampton, New
York), a member of the Board of Governors of the American Craft Museum.
On March 4, 1994, he chaired the Jewish Museum's eighth annual Purim
Ball. In 1993, Mr. Weiner chaired the New York Urban Coalition's 26th
Annual Achievement Awards Dinner, and co-chaired Yeshiva University's
Sephardic Council of Overseers' second annual dinner. In 1992, Mr.
Weiner was a Vice-Chairman of the Appeal of Conscience Foundation's

Mr. Weiner: Republic New York Corporation is the parent company of
Republic National Bank
