VICENTE ANIDO, JR. joined CombiChem, Inc. as President and CEO in March
of 1996. CombiChem is a computational discovery company that applies its
proprietary design technology and software along with rapid synthesis
capabilities to accelerate the discovery process. Since 1996, the
company has been successful in signing seven corporate collaborations
with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and agrochemical companies. In
addition, it raised its last venture round in 196 and successfully
completed its initial public offering in May 1998. Prior to CombiChem,
Dr. Anido was the President of the Americas Region at Allergan, Inc.
where he was responsible for all of the company's commercial operations
for North and South America. During his three years at Allergan, Dr.
Anido provided the leadership to change successful acquisition of Ioptex
(an intra-ocular lens company), Herald Pharmacal (a skin care business),
Frumtost (the largest privately held ophthalmic company in Brazil) and
Cosmos-Lorsen ( a specialty skin care business in Argentina). Prior to
Allergan, Dr. Anido spent almost 18 years at Marion Laboratories and
Marion Merrell Dow. He held a number of different positions there in
both the domestic and international divisions, including VP Business
Management (where he was responsible for the re-engineering of the U.S.
prescription products business and for the acquisition of Rugby
Laboratories) and President and General Manager of Nordic Laboratories,
one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Canada. Dr. Anido
received his B.S. Pharmacy and M.S. Pharmaceutical Sciences from West
Virginia University, and his Ph.D. in Pharmacy Administration from the
University of Missouri, Kansas City. He serves on the Board of Directors
of two private biotechnology companies Deltagen Inc. and Galileo
Laboratories. In addition, he is on the CEO Advisory Board for the
Information and Computer Science Department at the University of
