Vasu R. Devan – Mecon Inc (mecn)

Vasu R. Devan is Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of MECON, Inc. Mr. Devan has been active in the healthcare field for over 29 years. His formal education includes a Graduate Degree in Industrial Engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Devan founded MECON in the early 1980s with the specific purpose of providing information, tools, and consultative services to healthcare organizations. Healthcare cost containment, productivity improvement, and cost restructuring have been the central themes of Mr. Devan's healthcare focus. Prior to establishing MECON, Mr. Devan was Director of Market Support for Technicon Medical Information Systems Corporation, where he was responsible for central marketing, market research, hospital cost/benefits analysis, and product promotions. Between 1973 and 1977, Mr. Devan worked with Medicus Systems Corporation, fulfilling a concurrent role of Western Regional Manager and Manager of Management Systems Services for Stanford University Hospital. During his association with Medicus, he was responsible for directing and executing consulting projects at several northern California hospitals. Prior to joining Medicus, Mr. Devan was a Senior Management Consultant with Booz Allen and Hamilton, where he was actively involved in providing consulting services to several hospitals and clinics across the country. Included in his career are specific consulting experiences with the Veterans Administration, Georgia Regional Medical Program, U.S. Public Health Services, several academic medical centers, and the American Hospital Association.
