Ulf Berg – Carlo Gavazzi Holding Ag (gav)

ULF BERG is the Chief Executive Officer of the Carlo Gavazzi Group. Mr Berg graduated as a mechanical engineer and PhD at the Technical University of Copenhagen. He went to Switzerland in 1977 working for BBC (now ABB) in turbine development and rationalisation. 1989, he moved to North Brunswick, USA responsible for developing ABB's power plant division ending with an annual turnover of $500 million. He subsequently in 1993, moved to Mannheim (D) running ABB Germany's international gas turbine business with a turnover of $700 million. In May 1996, he was made head of ABB's worldwide business for industrial power generating equipment, a business with a turnover of around $1.1 billion and 3, 000 employees. He was a member of the management board of ABB Power Generation Group Ltd, Zurich. In April 1999, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Carlo Gavazzi Group, and was promoted in April 2000 to Chief Executive Officer with overall responsibility for the Group.
