THOMAS J. KOWALSKI is a Partner in Frommer Lawrence & Haug LLP, a US
intellectual property law firm, based in New York City. He graduated
from New York University with a BS in Chemistry. His studies were in
fulfillment of the requirements for American Chemistry Society
certification of the degree, and included Graduate Biochemistry,
Genetics, and Laboratory Research. Mr. Kowalski was also awarded a
National Science Foundation Grant for Laboratory Research, the results
of which were published in The Journal of Organic Chemistry. He was
awarded the degree of JD, cum laude, from St. John's University. He has
been in practice for about 15 years. Mr. Kowalski is admitted to
practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office, the Courts of New
York State, the US Federal Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Western
Districts of New York, the Federal Circuit and the US Supreme Court. His
practice includes biotech, chemical and medical apparatus patent
prosecution, licensing and counseling. Mr. Kowalski has authored or co-
authored articles that have appeared in various journals, including
Nature Biotechnology and The Journal of Commercial Biotechnology, and
