Terry R. Knapp – Conception Technology Inc

TERRY R. KNAPP, M.D., F.A.C.S has more than thirty years' experience in medicine, in both service delivery and device businesses. While in plastic and reconstructive surgery training at Stanford University, he developed and patented the enabling technology for Collagen Corporation (CGEN-NASDAQ), which he co-founded in 1975. Dr. Knapp practiced plastic and reconstructive surgery in Northern California for seventeen years, serving both medical and political roles in organized medicine. In 1992, Dr. Knapp co-founded LipoMatrix, Inc., to provide a rationally designed, safe breast implant for women, where he built the entire company infrastructure (manufacturing, research and development, quality assurance, regulatory affairs , clinical research, finance, information systems and marketing). In 1995, LipoMatrix achieved distinction as the first ISO 9001 certified breast implant company in the world with its initial product, the Trilucent' Implant, becoming the first CE-marked breast implant and the first new implant to receive full investigative status (IDE) in both the U.S. and Canada. When LipoMatrix was acquired in 1995, Dr. Knapp led the product's commercial launch in Europe and South America. While serving as CEO of LipoMatrix, Dr. Knapp received an issued patent for the use of passive electronic transponder microchips for identification of implanted medical devices. He then designed and implemented the first global registry, tracking, adverse event registry and post-market surveillance program for medical devices based on this informatics technology. He is author of two additional patents in progress for transponder based medical and biosensor technology. Currently, Dr. Knapp serves as Chairman, CEO and Medical Director of Conception Technology, Inc., a women's healthcare company in the field of reproductive medicine, located in Ft. Collins, Colorado.
