Steven Hamerslag – J2 Global Communications (jfax)

STEVEN J. HAMERSLAG is Chief Executive Officer and President of j2 Global Communications, Inc. Prior to his position at j2 Global Communications, Mr. Hamerslag served as CEO and President of SureTalk.com (formerly known as Fax4Free.com, Inc.) and, before joining the team at Fax4Free.com in July 1999, Mr. Hamerslag served as CEO of MTI Technology, a leading international provider of data storage management products and services. Mr. Hamerslag assumed control of MTI in 1987 from Summit Ventures. At MTI, he developed two key products that drove growth in just four years from $2.5 million to $82 million and led the company through an initial public offering in 1994 at a $180 million valuation. He also started Lexcel, a subsidiary that developed the first SNMP-based network management software in the industry. Additional accomplishments include successfully defending the company from a patent infringement lawsuit with Digital Equipment Corporation and obtaining a cross-licensing and intellectual property transaction with the company's principle competitor, EMC Corporation, for $50 million cash to MTI. Mr. Hamerslag holds a BA in Economics from UC Berkeley. He was recognized as the High Tech Entrepreneur of the Year for Orange County in 1990 and as the National Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year in 1990 by sponsors Ernst and Young, Merrill Lynch and Inc.
