Steve Morrison – Granada Media Plc

STEVE MORRISON, Chief Executive of Granada Media Group, is a graduate of The national Film School and joined Granada Television in 1974 to set up their Northern Documentary Unit. He went on to produce and direct World In Action. He became Head of Regional Programmes, and subsequently Head of Features and Documentaries. Steve was appointed Granada's Director of Programmes in August 1987. Mr. Morrison's network credits have included The Spanish Civil War, Disappearing World, China, the comedy-drama Scully, The Road to 1984 on George Orwell and 28-Up, the fourth of Granada's Seven Up series. He has produced two feature films for Granada The Magic Toyshop and The Fruit Machine. Mr. Morrison was Executive Producer on the Granada film My Left Foot, directed by Jim Sheridan which won Oscars for Daniel Day Lewis and Brenda Fricker, and on The Field, for which Richard Harris received an Oscar nomination. He was Executive Producer on Granada's film hit 'Jack and Sarah' and Anthony Hopkins' directional debut 'August'. Mr. Morrison is a Governor of the British Film Institute, British Film Commission and National Film and Television School. He is a Director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival. In October 1992, he was appointed managing Director, Granada Broadcasting, and in July 1993 appointed Managing Director of Granada Television. Mr. Morrison was Managing Director of LWT from July 1994 to July 1996. He was appointed Deputy Chief Executive of Granada's Television Division and Chairman of Laser in October 1995. He was Chairman of the ITV Marketing Group from November 1995 to September 1996. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer, Granada Mesia Group, in January 1996 and became Chief Executive in December the same year. Mr. Morrison is a Director of capital on small caps for the word digital (all one word example, Ondigital), a joint venture with Carlton which was awarded three DTT multiplex licences in June 1997.
