STEPHEN N. JOFFE, MD, is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
LCA-Vision Inc., a leader in the field of laser vision correction with
36 centers in the US, Canada and Europe. He was founder of the company's
corporate predecessor, Laser Centers of America, Inc. ('LCA') and served
as its Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer from its
founding in 1985 until its merger into LCA-Vision in 1995. Stephen N.
Joffe, BSc, MB ChB, MD, FACS, FRCS, FCS (SA) obtained his medical degree
in 1967 from the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa), and was
awarded a Postgraduate Doctorate Degree in 1976. He has held faculty
appointments at the University of London, Glasgow, and Cincinnati, and
holds fellowships of the College of Surgeons of South Africa, the Royal
College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, the Royal College of Surgeons in
Glasgow, and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Joffe held the
position of Full Professor of Surgery and Medicine at the University of
Cincinnati Medical Center for over nine years and is currently the
Esteemed Quondam Professor of Surgery and Medicine. He has authored over
170 papers in scientific and technical journals, has contributed to over
35 textbooks, has presented over 220 papers before scientific societies
in 22 countries throughout the world and is a member of over 60
