SAMUEL P. PHELAN is President of Taconic Farms, Inc. Mr. Phelan received
his BS degree from Georgetown University. He has been at Taconic Farms,
Inc., since 1981. Previously he was a Financial Analyst and Assistant VP
of Sales and Marketing at US Leasing in San Francisco, California. He
continued to use those skills at Taconic as Director of Marketing. From
1981 to the present, annual revenues at Taconic have grown from $4
million to approximately $70 million. In 2003 Mr. Phelan was appointed
President of Taconic, succeeding his brother Joseph Phelan, who had been

TWST: Could you begin with a brief historical sketch of Taconic and apicture of things as they are now?
Mr. Phelan: Taconic is a company that has been in business for over 50
years. It was
