SAM ASSEER is the Chairman and CEO of LCI Technology Group NV in the
Netherlands. He is responsible for the strategic management of LCI's
growing group of 40 active technology companies that operate in 15
countries throughout Europe and the US. These companies employ more
than 1,000 employees and provide solutions and services in the areas of
e-commerce, business system applications, multimedia and video, printer
connectivity, and security and wireless communications. Mr Asseer has
more than 25 years of experience in information technology and has been
involved in a number of technology start-ups and corporate financial
turnarounds worldwide. His relation with today's Information Technology
industry dates back to 1982 when he announced the first desktop PC at
Hannover, Germany, during the early days of DOS and WordStar. Mr Asseer
has transformed LCI, traded on the Amsterdam AEX-Stock Exchange, into
one of Europe's fastest growing small cap companies, increasing its
market value from EUR2.6 million in 1994 to EUR250 million today. In
1997, LCI received the Information Technology Prize Award from the
President of the European Commission, selected by the European Council
of Applied Sciences and Engineering, chaired by Jacques Santer. This
award was presented to Mr Asseer in recognition of LCI-SMARTpen, the
company's innovative wireless biometric authentication system. Mr
