ROBERT D. WELDING is President and Chief Executive Officer of Federal
Signal Corporation. In addition, Mr. Welding is a member of the Board of
Directors of Federal Signal Corporation. Prior to joining Federal
Signal, Mr. Welding was Group President of the BorgWarner Driveline
Group and Executive Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. He also served as
President and General Manager of BorgWarner Transmissions Systems, a
unit of the Driveline Group. In his 20 years at BorgWarner, Mr. Welding
held a variety of positions of elevating responsibility in operations
and product engineering management. Prior to that, he worked for
Volkswagen of America and General Motors in product engineering
capacities. Mr. Welding earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical
Engineering from the University of Nebraska in 1970 and an MBA from the
University of Michigan in 1984. He is a graduate of Harvard Business
