ROBERT SANDNESS is President and Chief Operating Officer of
Virtek Vision International Inc., a publicly traded company on
the Toronto Stock Exchange that manufactures, markets and sells
proprietary laser and automation systems. Mr. Sandness completed
a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Science from the University of
Toronto in 1973. Mr. Sandness went on to earn a Masters Degree in
Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1974.
Prior to joining Virtek in 1999, Mr. Sandness managed Hewlett-
Packard's Canadian Networks Operation that successfully developed
groundbreaking Fibre Channel switching products. He also served
as Vice President and General Manager at Alcatel ' Canada Wire,
and Vice President, Systems Integration Division at Canada
Systems Group Ltd. Mr. Sandness' responsibilities at Virtek have
included sales, marketing, engineering, innovation and strategic
planning. Prior to his appointment as President and COO in 2002,
Mr. Sandness led Virtek's Laser Systems business where his roles
included Vice President, Aerospace and Vice President,
Engineering and Business Development. While serving as Vice
President, Aerospace, Mr. Sandness successfully managed Virtek's
acquisition of GSI Lumonics' laser projector business and oversaw
the activities and operations of over 50 team members. Profile
