Robert J. Strudler – U.s. Home Corporation (uh)

ROBERT J. STRUDLER was elected Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Home Corporation in May of 1986. Prior thereto, he had been President and Chief Operating Officer since August of 1984 and has served as a vice president since joining the Company in January, 1972. Mr. Strudler served as chairman of High Production Home Builders Council of the National Association of Home Builders from 1991 to 1994. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Midland Financial Holdings, Inc., Clearwater, Florida and a member of the Cornell University Real Estate Council, the Advisory Council for the Program in Real Estate at Cornell University, and the President's Advisory Board at the University of St. Thomas. He also serves as a Trustee of Congregation Beth Am and as president and trustee of the Foundation for the 'School for Young Children' in Houston, Texas. The Foundation operates a private school for learning disabled children. Mr. Strudler is a frequent speaker and has been a guest speaker for the National Association of Home Builders, the Pacific Coast Builders Conference, the Florida Real Estate Council, the Builder 100 Conference, 'Professional Builder's' Benchmark Quality Management Seminar, and the Fifth International Housing and Home Warranty Conference. He was presented the Distinguished Speaker's Award at the University of Florida, School of Building Construction. Mr. Strudler has also had several articles accepted for publication. A recent article authored by Mr. Strudler entitled 'Chasing the Goddess of Growth' appeared in the summer 1996 issue of the 'Houston Business Review'. Mr. Strudler was selected as the co-recipient of the 1994 National Builder of the Year Award by 'Professional Builder' magazine and, in 1995, he received the Bronze Award from the 'Wall Street Transcript' for CEO performance in the residential building industry. In 1997, Mr. Strudler was named as the 15th recipient of the Golda Meir Senior Humanitarian Award. The award recognized Mr. Strudler's contributions to the Golda/Meir Kent Jewish Center and his devotion to issues surrounding the senior population. Mr. Strudler attended Columbia University Law School where he graduated in 1967 with a L.L.B. degree. Mr. Strudler holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Cornell University. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Florida Bar and the American Bar Association. Prior to joining U.S. Home in 1971, Mr. Strudler was engaged in private legal practice in New York with the law firm of Wickes, Riddell, Bloomer, Jacobi and McGuire and with the firm of London, Buttenwieser and Chalif.
