ROBERT E. ROSE joined Global Marine, Inc. as President, CEO and Director
in May 1998. Previously, he was President, CEO and Director of Diamond
Offshore until his resignation in March 1998. He presided over the
landmark 1992 consolidation of Diamond M and ODECO, the initial public
offering of Diamond Offshore in 1995, and the acquisition of Arethusa
Offshore in 1996, thereby creating the world's largest deepwater
offshore drilling company. Mr. Rose began his professional career with
Global Marine in 1964 and served for over 13 years in various positions
including Manager of Global Marine's first purpose-built drillship, the
Glomar II. When he left Global Marine in 1976, he was Vice President for
Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He currently serves as immediate
past-Chairman of National Ocean Industries Association. He was the 1994
Chairman of the International Association of Drilling Contractors and
was voted the 'Contractor of the Year' in 1993 by that association. In
1997, he was selected to join the Department of Energy's National
Petroleum Council. Additionally, he serves on the board of the American
Bureau of Shipping, the Offshore Energy Center and the American
Petroleum Institute. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Rose
is a pilot and holds the rank of Colonel in the Confederate Air Force.
He has a Master of Business Administration degree from Southern
Methodist University in Dallas. Profile
