Richard Wollenberg – Longview Fibre Company (lfb)

RICHARD P. WOLLENBERG, President, CEO and Chairman of Longview Fibre Company, joined the company in 1939 as a Safety Engineer and subsequently held the positions of Assistant Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer, Manager of Container Operations, Vice President of Operations and Executive Vice President. In 1969 he became President of Longview Fibre; in 1978 he was named CEO; and in 1985 he was named Chairman of the Board. Mr. Wollenberg continues to hold these three titles today; he is also a member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Wollenberg received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from Harvard University. He also attended the Army Industrial College and received an Honorary Doctor of Public Affairs from the University of Puget Sound. Mr. Wollenberg also served in the US Air Force from 1941 to 1945, holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. A member of the Pacific Coast Association of Pulp and Paper Manufacturers, the Western Advisory Board of Factory Mutual Insurance, Washington State Roundtable and the Institute of Paper and Science Technology, Mr. Wollenberg was the recipient of the Harvard Business School Alumni Achievement Award in 1994.
