Peter Hollins – British Energy Plc (bgy.l)

PETER HOLLINS joined British Energy as Chief Executive in February 1998 from European Vinyls Corporation, Brussels which was originally a joint venture between ICI and Enichem of Italy, floated on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange in 1994. From 1992 onwards, he was Executive Director of the company responsible for: suspension PVC and vinyl chloride monomer business, research and development, safety health, environment and technology licensing. Mr Hollins holds an honours degree in Chemistry from Oxford University. He began his career in 1970 as Market Development Manager with British Oxygen, where he then moved to ICI Mond Division, thereafter ICI Chemicals and Polymers. In 1987, he moved to ICI Soda Ash Products as Commercial Manager and then ICI Resins BV, Waaldijk, Netherlands as General Manager in 1989. Peter Hollins is also a non-executive Director of Smiths Industries. Fluent in Dutch, German and French, he is married with two daughters and lives in Edinburgh. In his spare time, he enjoys classical music, travelling, rugby and hill walking. Profile
