Pete Raymond – Tepnel Life Sciences Plc (ted.l)

PETER RAYMOND is the Chairman and Acting CEO of Tepnel Life Science Plc. Mr Raymond is a chemist by first degree qualification, an entrepreneur by business experience and an enthusiast for life, innovation and venturing. After early "big company" experience with Dow Corning, ICI and Geigy/CIBA Geigy, Peter founded his first company distributing speciality chemicals and progressed to full manufacturing of American products under licence. The experience of being European Director of Corporate Development for The Dexter Corporation provided the springboard to becoming the first Managing Director of UMIST (University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology) Ventures Ltd. During his time at UMIST, 20 high tech "Newcos" were founded, all with private capital over a six year period, one of which was Tepnel. Mr Raymond became Chairman of Tepnel in 1998 and acting CEO in 1999. He believes that Tepnel can become a world player in the supply of DNA-driven enabling technologies, services and test kits, following the commercialisation of its automated DNA purification technology. Tepnel's market, the global DNA market, will expand further following the successful outcome of the Human Genome Project. With a portfolio of patented DNA technologies, service laboratories and kit based products, Tepnel will realise it's full potential through partnerships and distribution agreements. Mr Raymond is married with four children and has three grandchildren. Profile
