PENELOPE HERSCHER has been Chairman and CEO of Simplex Solutions, Inc.,
since 1996. Before joining Simplex, Ms. Herscher was Vice President and
General Manager of a business unit at Synopsys, responsible for the
company's high-level synthesis and system design products. She also held
the positions of Director of Product Marketing and Vice President of
Marketing during her eight years with the company. In her first position
with Synopsys, Ms. Herscher created their business development program,
where she established strategic relationships with the world's leading
semiconductor suppliers. Before joining Synopsys, Ms. Herscher was
Manager of Daisy Systems' ASIC Program and held various positions in
product marketing and R&D for Daisy's IC layout product lines. She began
her career as an R&D Engineer at Texas Instruments. Ms. Herscher
volunteers with Valley Scholars and Women Unlimited mentoring programs
to assist high school students and professional women achieve their
goals. She serves on the Board of Directors of the EDA Consortium. She
holds a BA degree with honors in Mathematics from Cambridge University
