Ovvind Hushovd – Falconbridge Ltd (fl:tse)

OVVIND HUSHOVD earned a Master of Business degree at the Norwegian Business University in Bergen, Norway. Upon graduation in 1974, Mr. Hushovd began working at the Falconbridge Nikkelverk refinery in Kristiansand, Norway as an Accountant and eventually became Controller in 1978. During this time he also taught business systems and accounting at the University in Kristiansand. In 1981 he began working for Superior Oil (Falconbridge Limited's parent company at the time) in the North Sea and in the Netherlands. In addition, he completed a Law degree at the University of Oslo in 1985. He became Director of Finance and Administration at the refinery in Norway in 1984. He was transferred to the corporate office in Toronto as Vice President, Controller and Chief Financial Officer in 1986. In 1989 he returned to Nikkelverk as Managing Director. In 1995, he returned to Canada as Executive Vice President of Falconbridge Limited until his appointment to his present position in December 1996. In addition to being President and CEO of Falconbridge Limited, he is a member of the Boards of Falconbridge Nikkelverk A/S, Falconbridge Dominicana, C. por A., and Compaia Minera Doa Ins de Collahuasi S.A. Previous board associations include Boliden (Sweden) and Norzink (Norway). Mr. Hushovd is also a member of the Boards of Directors of industry associations including the Mining Association of Canada, and the Nickel Development Institute, as well as the Norwegian- Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
