Nigel Webb – Protarga Inc

NIGEL L. WEBB, Chairman, President and CEO of Protarga, Inc., has 30 years of experience with the healthcare industry in the United States and Europe. From 1972 through 1982, he directed product development and marketing programs for large pharmaceutical companies (Searle, Johnson & Johnson). From 1982 through the present, Dr. Webb has served on the Boards of six healthcare companies, and acted as President for the start-up of two biotechnology companies (Damon Biotech and Hybridon). He was appointed by the Governor of Massachusetts to the state biotechnology board, and he served on the Executive Committee of the US biotechnology trade association. Dr. Webb was awarded his MA in Biochemistry from Cambridge University, and his PhD for research into the structure of nucleic acids in the M.R.C. laboratory of Nobel laureate Maurice Wilkins. Dr. Webb is the coinventor of a number of pharmaceutical products, including Protarga's new cancer drug Taxoprexin' that will enter Phase III clinical studies in 2002. Profile
