Nathan Zommer – Ixys Corporation (syxi)

NATHAN ZOMMER, Chairman, CEO and President of IXYS Corporation, graduated from the Tel Aviv University with a BSc and MSc in Physical Chemistry in July 1973. In 1977 he graduated with a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. from 1977 to 1979, he was a Member of the Hewlett Packard R&D Labs in Palo Alto, California. He did research in the areas of HV-MOS technology, photoelectric devices for laser printers and X-ray lithography. In 1979, he founded AEC Corp., which was acquired by Intersil Corp., doing work on Power Mos devices and HVICs. He served as Intersil's director of the Power Mos division. In 1981 he was instrumental in the acquisition of Intersil by General Electric Corporation, during which period he received numerous awards for management and technical achievements. Dr. Zommer co-developed and co- authored the first technical paper on the IGBT technology, with Dr. J. Baliga. In 1983, he founded IXYS Corporation in Silicon Valley, and by Sept. 1998, he took the company public by an acquisition of Paradigm Tech. Corp. Dr. Zommer has served in his career as consultant to numerous VCs and Fortune 100 companies in the area of semiconductor device research.
