MICHAEL A. ST. CLAIR-GEORGE is Managing Director of SIPEF S.A. He has
spent more than 25 years in tropical agriculture mostly in Malaysia and
Indonesia. In Malaysia, he had a board appointment with Golden Hope
Plantations Bhd., the Malaysian successor to the formerly British owned
Harrisons and Crosfield plantation companies. He joined the SIPEF group
in 1991 as Managing Director of their Indonesian companies and was
appointed Managing Director of the holding company in Belgium in 1997.
He is a chartered accountant (England and Wales) and qualified in London
before starting his career in planting. Profile
TWST: Can you give me a brief overview of Sipef and a little bit ofhistory. What are your main activities?
Mr. St. Clair-George: We're a Belgian plantation group and were
established in 1919.
