MICHAEL P. GEORGE joined Western Water Company in April 1998 as
President and CEO. He was elected to the additional post of Chairman of
the Board in September 1999. From 1992 to 1998, Mr. George was a
Managing Director of J.P. Morgan and a member of J.P. Morgan's Western
United States Management Committee. While at J.P. Morgan, Mr. George had
responsibility within the firm's Investment Banking Division for
corporate clients who had significant interaction with government
through project partnerships, privatizations or regulations. Throughout
his investment banking career, he played a leading role in California
infrastructure finance innovations, with emphasis on transportation,
waste management and, particularly, all elements of the water cycle from
resource development through reclamation. Mr. George began his career in
private legal practice with the Washington, D.C. firm of O'Connor &
Hannan in 1975. He subsequently joined Lehman Brothers in New York.
After moving to California in 1983, he joined the First Boston
Corporation, where he managed that firm's public finance business in the
Western United States. Mr. George is an honors graduate of the
Georgetown University Law Center and the University of Notre Dame, where
he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He is a member of the Board of
Trustees of The Branson School and the former President of a foundation
supporting local public education in the primary grades. Profile
