MICHAEL CASEY joined Starbucks in 1995 as Senior Vice President and
Chief Financial Officer and was promoted in 1997 to Executive Vice
President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer.
Before joining the company, he served as Executive Vice President and
Chief Financial Officer of Family Restaurants, Inc. He also served as a
Director of Family Restaurants from 1986 to 1993 and as President of its
El Torito Restaurants, Inc. subsidiary from 1988 to 1993. Prior to 1986,
he was a Vice President with W.R. Grace & Co. and Deputy Group Executive
