MICHAEL D. CASEY, President, Chief Executive Officer and a director of
Matrix Pharmaceutical, Inc. since September 1997. He was appointed
Chairman of the Board of Directors in August 1999. Prior to joining
Matrix, Mr. Casey served as President of three other pharmaceutical
companies where he fulfilled a wide range of leadership roles. He held
several management positions at Johnson & Johnson, including President
of McNeil Pharmaceutical from 1989 to 1993 and Vice President, Sales and
Marketing for Ortho Pharmaceutical from 1985 to 1989. He also served as
President of Schein Pharmaceuticals where he was President of the retail
and specialty products division. Mr. Casey served as President and Chief
Operating Officer of Genetic Therapy, Inc., (GTI) a leading company
focused in gene therapy. GTI was acquired by Sandoz. Profile
