MICHAEL D. BISHOP is President and Chief Scientific Officer of
Infigen, Inc. Dr. Bishop received a BS degree in Animal Science
from North Dakota State University and an MS and PhD from Ohio
State University in Animal Breeding and Molecular Genetics.
Following graduation from NDSU, Dr. Bishop managed a registered
Polled Hereford operation in northeastern Ohio and owned and
managed a commercial cow-calf ranch in North Dakota. After
completing his advanced degrees at OSU, Dr. Bishop worked for the
USDA-ARS, Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center, Nebraska.
He was a Research Scientist and member of the cattle genome
mapping team that developed and published the first cattle
genetic linkage map and interactive database in February 1994.
That same year, Dr. Bishop was awarded the Distinguished Research
Award by the USDA Agricultural Research Service as an outstanding
