MERRILL JAY FORGOTSON has been the President and Chief Executive Officer
of Cornerstone Bancorp, Inc., since November 2000. Cornerstone Bancorp
is the parent organization for Cornerstone Bank, a commercial bank
headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut with offices in Stamford,
Greenwich, Norwalk and Westport Connecticut. Mr. Forgotson is Chairman
of the Board of the bank as well as its Chief Operating Officer.
Immediately, prior to joining Cornerstone, Mr. Forgotson was Chief
Credit Officer and later Western Market Director for Peoples Bank of
Bridgeport Connecticut. Prior to joining Peoples Bank, Mr. Forgotson had
been General Counsel and Secretary of Barclays/American Business Credit
and Banking Partner of Gross, Hyde and Williams in Hartford Connecticut.
Mr. Forgotson is on the Board of Directors of the Norwalk Chamber of
Commerce, the Norwalk/Wilton United Way, the Stamford Center for the
Arts and the Connecticut Grand Opera & Orchestra. He is also a member of
the Board of the Connecticut Chapter of the Anti-Defamation League,
where he previously served as State Chairman. He graduated with a BS
from Northeastern University, a JD from Boston University and an MBA
(Accounting concentration) from Western New England College. Profile
