MCHENRY T. TICHENOR became Chairman, President and Chief Executive
Officer of Heftel Broadcasting Corporation upon the merger of Heftel and
Tichenor Media System, Inc. on February 14, 1997. He began his career in
Spanish radio in 1979 when he joined Tichenor Media, being named
President of that company in 1981. Mr. Tichenor attended the University
of Texas at Austin where he received a BA with honors in 1977, and an
MBA, together with the Dean's Award for Academic Excellence, in 1979. He
was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus by the University of Texas
Graduate Business Council in 1987. Mr. Tichenor's business and
professional activities include serving on the Advisory Council of the
University of Texas College of Business Administration; he is a director
of the Radio Advertising Bureau, chairs the Spanish division of the
Radio Mercury Awards, and is immediate past chairman of the Texas
Business Hall of Fame Foundation. Profile
