MARTIN STANTON is Executive Vice President of Archemix Corp. A principal
Founder of Archemix, Dr. Stanton is leading its corporate and business
advancement as Archemix shifts from aptamer technology to aptamer-based
product development. A sought-after expert in the field of scientific
and medical imaging, his background is based in research at institutions
including Brandeis University, Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts
General Hospital. At Brandeis, he directed research in the development
of instrumentation and software for biomedical application. From
1990-2001, he led their Detector Develop Group, working on technology
development for X-ray crystallography and X-ray imaging, new methods for
breast imaging and nucleic acid based detectors for quantification of
biological macromolecules. Dr. Stanton has been involved in numerous
entrepreneurial activities, including founding and serving as President
of Hummingbird Instruments, which provides consulting services on
hardware and software for X-ray diffraction applications. He has
authored over 35 papers in scientific imaging, medical imaging and image
processing software, and holds numerous patents and patent applications.
He received a Doctorate in Biophysics and an MS in Biochemistry from
Brandeis University, and a BA in Chemistry and Physics from the
