MARTIN S. RASH is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
Province Healthcare Company. He founded Province Healthcare in
February 1996 with Golder, Thoma, Cressey, and Rauner.
Previously, Mr. Rash was Executive Vice President and Chief
Operating Officer at Community Health Systems, a Brentwood,
Tennessee-based healthcare company. With more than 20 years'
experience in healthcare operations and management, he led the
growth of Community Health Systems from 10 to 41 hospitals in 17
states while developing network-based delivery systems in each
market. He supervised regional operations, information systems,
physician recruitment, clinic operations, and managed care
development. Prior to assuming his corporate role with Community,
Mr. Rash was Chief Executive Officer/Administrator for two
medical centers. Having held these positions, he experienced
first-hand the challenges of those involved in field operations
and developed a 'customer-focused' mentality that today provides
the foundation of Province's strategy. Mr. Rash serves on the
Board of Odyssey Healthcare, is Chairman of the Nashville
Healthcare Council, and is immediate past Chairman of the
Federation of American Hospitals. Profile
