Martin Barkin is the President and Chief Executive Officer of DRAXIS
Health Inc., and also serves on the Board of Viventia Biotech Inc. He
came to DRAXIS in 1992 from KPMG where he served as Partner and National
Practice Leader for Health Care. Before that, he was Deputy Minister of
Health for the Province of Ontario, Secretary of the Premier's Council
on Health and Chair of the Deputies' Cabinet Committee on Social Policy
for the Province of Ontario. He holds the rank of Professor in the
Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto in both the Departments
of Surgery and Health Administration. Dr. Barkin was President and Chief
Executive Officer of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, a 1400 bed
teaching and research centre, at which time he was also Vice-Chair of
the Ontario Hospital Association and President of the Ontario Council of
Teaching Hospitals. He was Chief of the Division of Urology, Sunnybrook
Health Sciences Centre, Professor of Surgery (Urology) University of
Toronto and a Project Director at the Research Institute of the Hospital
for Sick Children as well as a member of the Grants Review Committee of
