LAWRENCE DAY is President and Chief Executive Officer of TBC
Corporation, headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Mr. Day
joined the company in April 1998 as Executive Vice President and Chief
Operating Officer and was elected President and Director in October
1998. He was appointed CEO on October 1, 1999. A native of South Africa,
Mr. Day began his career in 1966 as a Foreign Exchange Specialist at The
Standard Bank of South Africa. He entered the automotive field as a
Branch Manager in 1970 with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in
Johannesburg, and later expanded into international sales. Mr. Day then
joined Firestone Tire & Rubber Company in the US. From September 1976 to
January 1989, Mr. Day held various management positions throughout the
US and was ultimately responsible for Firestone's retail operations,
which involved developing new retail formats. From 1989 until June 1993,
Mr. Day was with Montgomery Ward's Auto Express Division, first as Field
Director, and then as Vice President. In 1993, Mr. Day joined Monro
Muffler Brake, Inc., in Rochester, New York as Executive Vice President
and Chief Operating Officer and was also elected to the company's Board
of Directors. He was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in
April 1995. During his tenure at Monro, Mr. Day led an expansion
campaign that doubled the number of retail outlets operated by the
company. Mr. Day also serves on the Board of Directors at Lund
