JOSEPH J. ROSS is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of
Federal Signal Corporation based in Oak Brook, Illinois. Mr. Ross has
been with Federal Signal Corporation since 1983 when he joined the
company as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. In 1986 he was
elected President and Chief Operating Officer of Federal Signal and a
member of the Board of Directors. He was elected President and Chief
Executive Officer in 1987 and Chairman in 1990. Prior to joining
Federal, Mr. Ross served as General Counsel for Sunbeam Corporation. Mr.
Ross graduated from St. Mary's University in Winona, Minnesota, received
his Law degree from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois and attended
the Stanford Executive Business Program sponsored by the University's
Graduate School of Business. Mr. Ross also serves on the Board of
