JOSEF MUEHLBAUER is the founder, President and Chief Executive Officer
of Muehlbauer AG. He spent his entire career building the public company
that bears his name. Born in 1957 and trained as a master machinist, Mr
Muehlbauer began his career in 1981 with his first contract high
precision parts fabrication business in Munich, Germany. Mr Muehlbauer
then expanded his operations in 1983 by building a new fabrication
facility in Roding Germany to take advantage of both more favourable
business conditions and more available highly skilled labour. The
transition from parts fabrication to capital equipment vendor began in
1986 with the delivery of machines for semiconductor, backend assembly
and test automation. In 1988 the smart card business unit began
eventually to supply the full spectrum of equipment necessary for smart
card production to final packaging. Understanding the need to remain
close to his customers, Josef Muehlbauer opened his first foreign sales
and service office in 1991 now has locations worldwide. Having take his
company public, Mr Muehlbauer focuses his attention on leading
Muehlbauer AG into the twenty first century. Profile
history about the company, what is your business, and where do you see
yourselves today?
Mr. Muehlbauer: I started the
