JOHN E. SLATER, JR. is President and Chief Executive Officer of Haverty.
He joined Haverty in 1956 after having attended the University of
Jacksonville. Mr. Slater began his career with Haverty in Jacksonville,
Florida, in the credit department. He joined the merchandise department
in Atlanta in 1965. He became Assistant Vice President and Western
Regional Manager in 1974. He was named Vice President and Mid-South
Regional Manager in 1980. Mr. Slater was assigned to the Atlanta area
stores and served as Vice President and General Manager in 1990. Mr.
Slater was named Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in
1992. He was made Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
in 1993. On April 1, 1994 Mr. Slater was named President and Chief
Executive Officer. He has also served as a Director since 1983. Profile
