John Shermyen – Logisticare Inc

JOHN L. SHERMYEN is president, chief executive officer and founder of LogistiCare, Inc., the nation's leading provider of specialized transportation network management. Mr. Shermyen founded what eventually became LogistiCare in 1987. Initially entering the marketplace as a turnkey software solutions developer, he evolved his company into an outsourcing company, based on the success of the proprietary logistics management software he developed - EMTrack selling the software to large ambulance and ADA paratransit clients, Mr. Shermyen developed a new business model that centralized the fragmented, inefficient, and often fraudulent system that existed in medical transportation. His "transportation network management" model fully integrated business systems software, route optimization, and wireless communication devices to provide effective management of local, commercial, nonprofit, and public transportation companies. The approach of combining innovative technology with management oversight of local providers offered clients one-stop shopping and a full range of transportation levels, as well as enhanced customer service. Mr. Shermyen successfully marketed the new concept to state governments and acquired healthcare contracts through government procurement. With each new contract LogistiCare proved its ability to control costs, improve service and eliminate fraud and abuse. As more states adopted the transportation network model, LogistiCare became the largest coordinator of specialized non-emergency transportation services in the country, and expanded into new markets -- Georgia, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Florida, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. The global positioning system technology featured in LogistiCare's software reflects Mr. Shermyen's background and interest in geography. Prior to launching LogistiCare, Mr. Shermyen worked as a consultant in remote digital image analysis and geographic information systems integration. His professional experience also includes roles as a manager of technology services and as a project manager with responsibilities for the development of micro computer- based image processing hardware and software. Mr. Shermyen holds a bachelor of science degree and a master of science degree in geography and computer cartography from the University of Florida. In 2003, he won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award(r) in the Business and Technology Services Category for the Southeast region. Mr. Shermyen resides in Gainesville, Florida, with his wife and two children. Profile
