John Burchett – Hanover Capital Mortgage Holdings Inc (hcm)

JOHN A. BURCHETT co-founded Hanover Capital Partners Ltd. in 1989 and currently serves as Chairman, President and CEO of Hanover Capital Mortgage Holdings, Inc. From 1987 to 1989, Mr. Burchett was Managing Director in charge of Mortgage Finance for Bankers Trust Company. His responsibilities included MBS agency and mortgage whole loan trading; MBS/derivative securities origination, structuring and sales; mortgage securities research; and mortgage banking operations. In his two years at Bankers Trust he built the mortgage finance area up to the level of competitive Wall Street firms. From 1980 to 1987, Mr. Burchett was co- head of Mortgage Finance at Citicorp Investment Bank. His duties there included MBS/derivative security origination, structuring, and sales. While at Citicorp Investment Bank, Mr. Burchett established their highly successful Citimae mortgage conduit program. Prior to Citicorp Investment Bank, Mr. Burchett was a member of Citibank's Merchant Banking Group, where he marketed interest rate risk management services (swaps, caps, floors, etc.) as well as provided merger and acquisition and private placement services to financial institutions. Mr. Burchett was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for one of the nation's largest thrifts, City Federal Savings, from 1976 through 1980, where he was responsible for treasury operations, financial reporting, asset/liability management, and loan servicing. From 1970 through 1976, Mr. Burchett held various positions with Fleet Financial Group, including Manager of Corporate Finance and President of its subsidiary, SBIC. At Fleet he had a primary role in the acquisition and subsequent management of Mortgage Associates, which now, as Fleet Mortgage Company, is one of the nation's largest mortgage banking firms. Mr. Burchett holds an MBA in Finance from Columbia University and a BSME in Mechanical and Aerospace Sciences from the University of Rochester. Profile
