Joel F. Gemunder is President of Omnicare, Inc. (NYSE: OCR), the
nation's largest provider of professional pharmacy and related
consulting services to skilled nursing, assisted living and other
institutional healthcare facilities. Omnicare is also the fifth largest
global contract research organization serving the pharmaceutical and
biotechnology industries. Mr. Gemunder has been President of the Company
since it went public in 1981. Prior to that, he served as Chief
Executive Officer of the Omnicare partnership, a consortium of health
care companies owned by W. R. Grace Co. (NYSE: GRA) and Chemed
Corporation (NYSE:CHE). He also served as Executive Vice President of
Chemed. After earning his AB degree from City College in New York and
his MBA degree from the University of Chicago, Mr. Gemunder joined W. R.
Grace Co. in 1962. Six years later, he was promoted to vice President of
Development from the Company's Specialty Products Group. Those
operations were spun off from Grace in 1971 as Chemed Corporation, and
Mr. Gemunder was named a Vice President of Chemed. In 1977, he was
promoted to Group Executive of Chemed's Health Care Group, and later
named Executive Vice President of Chemed. Mr. Gemunder serves on the
board of director of Omnicare, Inc., Chemed Corporation and Ultratech
Stepper Corporation and is on the Advisory Council of the Graduate
School of Business of the University of Chicago.
