James M. Hurd – Planar Systems Inc (plnr)

JAMES M. HURD is President/CEO of Planar Systems, Inc. Planar is a worldwide leader in the development, manufacture, and marketing of high- performance display products to customers in a growing number international markets. Mr. Hurd received his BS degree in Physics in 1970 and joined Tektronix, Inc. as a Materials Engineer working in the areas of semiconductor processing and luminescent materials. In 1980, he became Manager of the Tektronix Solid State Research Laboratory, with responsibility for the development of advanced Packaging and Semiconductor and Display Technologies for Tektronix. Mr. Hurd left Tektronix in 1983 and co-founded Planar as President/CEO. Mr. Hurd has numerous technical and business publications related to electronics materials, materials processing and the information display industry. He serves as a director on the board of Integrated Measurement Systems and of the Oregon Resource & Technology Development Fund, is active in the American Electronics Association, and is a trustee for the Oregon Graduate Institute.
