JAMES D. (DENNY) SHELTON is Chairman and CEO of Triad Hospitals, Inc.
Shelton led the formation and spin-off of Triad from Columbia/HCA on May
11, 1999. Following Columbia/HCA's reorganization in January 1998, Mr.
Shelton accepted the position as CEO of the Pacific Group that became
the nucleus of hospitals that formed Triad Hospitals, Inc. He joined
Columbia/HCA as President and CEO of the Central Group in 1994.
Previously, Mr. Shelton held various executive positions with National
Medical Enterprises (now Tenet) including Executive Vice President,
Senior Vice President and Regional Vice President. He has served as a
hospital administrator in Louisiana, Iowa, North Carolina, Georgia,
Illinois and Missouri. A native of Louisiana, Mr. Shelton received his
Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History from LSU in
Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a Master of Science in Business and Public
Administration from The University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.
Mr. Shelton was elected Chairman of the Federation of American Health
Systems in 1999 and serves on the Board of Governors. Profile
