JAMES A. CUNNINGHAM, JR., is President and CEO of Berkshire Hills
Bancorp, Inc., and Berkshire Bank. He graduated from Springfield College
in 1972 and completed numerous banking related courses, graduating from
the Massachusetts School of Savings Banking in 1978; National School of
Finance & Management in 1982; and the National Council of Savings
Institutions Executive Development Program in 1987. He started as a
teller with Great Barrington Savings Bank in 1973. He was elected
President and CEO of Great Barrington Savings Bank in 1990. In
conjunction with the merger of Berkshire County Savings Bank and Great
Barrington Savings Bank in 1997, he was elected President and Chief
Operating Officer of Berkshire bank and in 1998 President and CEO.
Active in the community, he serves on the Boards of Berkshire Health
Systems, Credit Data Services, Inc., and the Central Berkshire Chamber
of Commerce. He is past President of the Great Barrington Rotary Club,
and a former Board member of the Norman Rockwell Museum, Savings Bank
Life Insurance and the Massachusetts Bankers Association. Profile
